Welcome to the MOOHP archives, Agent! MOOHP's directors carefully curated a team of agents from the Marianopolis Academic Research Institute to complete AVIA 2023. 18 members first convened in early September, then consistently twice a week, to explore their skillsets and discover how they could each contribute to such an important mission.
MOOHP agents receive an urgent message from the CRC: they are to convene at the site of the mission, Curé-Antoine-Labelle High School, to receive crucial information on this year's mission. 8 agents from varying MOOHP divisions are selected to receive and pass on the information. With these important tools finally at their disposal, our agents are quick to get to work!
The members of the Machinery Division begin brainstorming ideas for an efficient and creative robot. They focus first and foremost on the possible mechanism responsible for picking up and transporting the horizontal game pieces. They are conflicted between two models: the angled claw and the linear motion.
Meanwhile, the base that had been saved from previous MOOHP agents was too small for the wheels chosen and was therefore rebuilt on a smaller scale.
In December, they begin to build their prototypes to pick between the two models of their arm once both have been tested and compared.
In January, machinery agents divide into subgroups. They make outstanding progress on all the gadget's components. For one, the team assembles the base frame. The power motors ensure the wheels' rotation are programmed.
After careful planning, agents begin building the mechanical lift, completing two stages and attaching the chains to each.
Finally, the machinists successfully fabricate a functional arm with the ability to lift the game pieces. They continue working on both prototypes and plan to have them completed and tested by the end of January.
Meanwhile, other machinery agents work on the mechanical lift. Their work was tedious, having to make many small adjustments to their original design, but they succeed nonetheless!
With the base, the arm, and the lift completed, the Machinery subdivisions can join forces and assemble the robot.
During assembly, however, agents encounter an issue: their 3D-printed adapters began to bend! Also, the mechanical lift they supported has trouble staying upright. To resolve this problem, they find resources to recreate the adapters using metal instead of plastic for a more sturdy structure.
The members of the Manufacturing Division ponder, deducing how to balance representing both M.A.R.I. and MHOOP at AVIA 2023. Creative minds gather to spark the most ingenious of ideas! Our agents' physical training is finally put to the test as they put up the kiosk walls.
With the kiosk walls assembled, Manufacturing agents prime its inner and outer walls.
During the first week of January, the interior of MOOHP headquarters begins to come together! They finish painting the base colour of the walls and the MOOHP logo's globe.
Agents also begin gathering materials and plans to furnish MOOHP headquarters. Recycling items used by previous MOOHP agents, they can begin building the red couch!
Agent Zi Heng of the Hacking and Arduino divisions collaborates with the Manufacturing division to program an identification system for MOOHP headquarters
They start furnishing the enclosed area by modifying old lockers that will disguise headquarters.
With the walls of the kiosk completed, they can begin adding monitors, keyboards, and lights to the interior. These are vital to ensure the security of MOOHP.
Agents also build the MOOHP logo from scratch out of recycled wood pieces!
Finally, they design the outer walls of the kiosk that will disguise MOOHP headquarters as the Marianopolis Academic Research Institute. They first paint colourful images on the front walls, then design a variety of school posters that will adorn said walls.
The members of the Website Division complete brainstorming and refine their ideas to draw out the overall structure and content of its website. Vision boards and logos are created. Their members also decide to use React.js and Next.js to build a more efficient and complex website!
Virtual Network agents, with concrete ideas in mind, began learning new programming languages, testing out ambitious ideas, and documenting the progress of the MOOHP agents and the mission at hand. They must also wield the art of subtlety to capture their agents working in action!
They can finally start building its website after learning new programming languages: React.js and Next.js! They complete the first half of the website and solidify their design of its second half to be able to structure it successfully in the following week. As for the content, they compile all the relevant information and update the team's progress reports.
They finish the second half of the website, despite their struggles with positioning and rendering 3D models! With the general design completed, they can begin refining all aspects of the website, improving styling and adding animations!
After presenting the website to their fellow MOOHP agents and heads, they receive important feedback in order to improve the user experience. The Virtual Network agents quickly list all the fixes needed, then divide and conquer!
As the submission deadline approaches, the division finalises all their designs. They update their team members' progress as well as their student life at M.A.R.I. as the new semester begins.
The members of the Marketing Division gather vital information on "Totally Spies!" to create a 5-minute video that will encapsulate the team, both M.A.R.I. and MOOHP, and their mission, AVIA 2023, all while highlighting the theme. Once the script is finalised, they must gather all the necessary tools and gadgets (and wigs!) that'll make their video a success.
The Marketing agents finalise their script! After receiving the wigs, they await solely receiving the necessary gadgets to film their video.
As soon as agents reconvene in the first week of January, having refined their script and collected all props and costumes necessary, they gather their main actors to film the scenes between Jerry Lewis and the three spies.
Then, they assemble extras that will bring the halls of M.A.R.I. to life in scenes between Clover, Alex, and Sam.
Once filming is completed, they begin collecting visual and sound effects to edit the video.
They work tirelessly to ensure that the video is uniform, engaging, and true to the theme. After hours of editing, the video is complete!
The Marketing Division's work is not done, however. With the video complete, they must now start scripting and filming the tutorial. They begin by collecting information on the robotic arm from the Machinery Division.
They gather the materials needed to make the tutorial, then swiftly film and edit it before they must return to M.A.R.I.
Vincent stayed up until 3am to brainstorm ideas for the second preliminary problem.
Agents Ly and Wu finally submitted the second preliminary problem, losing their sanity in the process.
Agent Ly completes the third preliminary problem in an hour!
